Parish Fundraising

As a Parish we have an Outward Giving programme supporting some specific charities. Details can be found here.
In addition our fundraising often needs to be targeted at maintenance or capital projects the PCC decide to undertake.
Listed below are the current active fundraising intitiatives.  More volunteer help is needed, click here for more information.

Stained Glass Windows at St Thomas'

St. Thomas’ was built between 1911 and 1926.  Now over 100 years on, it has been identified that  some of its absolutely beautiful stained-glass windows are buckled, need urgent repair and will have to be re-leaded. The cost of the complete project is just over £40,000 and, in addition to fundraising, we are applying for grants to help towards the costs.  Phase 1 of this project has  been completed and our brilliant fundraising more than covered the £14,000 needed for this phase.

We are now looking at Phase 2 which already has a substantial start with surpluses from 2024 fundraising, the profits from Burns Night, held in January, and some generous donations. However, we have over £5000 to raise. We are hoping to set up a programme of fundraising events for 2025. Please contact mo@thebourne.org.uk to have a chat about how you might help in the smallest or largest way.
Commemorative Tea Towels
We have already sold over 250 commemorative tea towels and are making a good profit from each sale.  Call in on the Parish Office when it is open 10am-12noon weekdays and you will be able to buy.  They are £10 each, but you may want to buy more to give away as presents: £45 for 5.

Christian Aid

Supporting Christian Aid will help those people pushed to the brink of poverty to find the strength to see opportunities to recover and meet their ambitions to build fulfilling lives, especially in Burundi.  Fundraising is led by Sari Smith and a very successful programme of Lunchtime concerts during Lent in 2024 , raised £2631.95, a magnificent sum. In 2024 the Parish has raised £3259.58 in favour of Christian Aid.
2025 Lent Concerts are just about to start, with a superb line up of performers. Please support them and give generously.

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice

The 2024 Christmas Market revival in 2024 was a great success bringing in lots of community visitors and raising over £11,000 with proceeds being divided between the Hospice rebuild fund and St Thomas' Stained Glass windows fund. The super team did an amazing job, but many are now retiring having worked with it over many years from its inception in 2008. Time for new ideas, new helpers. Please contact mo@thebourne.org.uk to have a chat about how you might help in the smallest or largest way.
