Fundraising in the Parish

As a Parish we have an Outward Giving programme supporting some specific charities. Details can be found here.
In addition our fundraising often needs to be targeted at maintenance or capital projects the PCC decide to undertake.
Most recently, a huge fundraising success was for Brambleton Hall. Go and see the transformation there!
Listed below are the current active fundraising intitiatives.

Stained Glass Windows at St Thomas' are in urgent need of repair.

St. Thomas’ was built between 1911 and 1926.  Now over 100 years on, it has been identified that  some of its absolutely beautiful stained-glass windows are buckled, need urgent repair and will have to be re-leaded. The cost of the complete project is just over £40,000 and, in addition to fundraising, we are applying for grants to help towards the costs.  Phase 1 of this project needs £14,000, our target this year. As of May 23rd 2024, through a variety of fundraising enterprises, we have raised over £4000.
Much more is organised throughout the year, please support the events coming soon. where you will find details of upcoming events.

So far these include

  • a Quiz on June 15th
  • a lunchtime recital with lunch on July 12th with Nicola Sharkey and Brian Cotterill
  • dancing to 'Out of the Shadows' 60s  band on November 2nd
  • a Stand Up Comedy evening on November 23rd

Christian Aid

Supporting Christian Aid will help those people pushed to the brink of poverty to find the strength to see opportunities to recover and meet their ambitions to build fulfilling lives, especially in Burundi.  Fundraising is led by Sari Smith and a very successful programme of Lunchtime concerts during Lent, raised £2631.95, a magnificent sum. Christian Aid week ran from May 11th-May 18th, and many generously supported this worthwhile charity. Altogether in the first six months of this year, the Parish has raised £3259.58 in favour of Christian Aid. This will help to bring about substantial changes for so many deserving peoples who are suffering so badly in the conflicts continuing throughout the world.

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice

There is a Christmas Market revival this year on Saturday November 30th, with proceeds being divided between the Hospice rebuild fund and St Thomas' Stained Glass windows fund.
Be sure to support it.
